$800 Travel Grant for First-Time B-Division NARAM Participants

The NAR Education Committee is sponsoring up to four travel grants to attend this year’s National Association of Rocketry Annual Meet (NARAM-56) for first-time B-division participants.  For more information on this year’s meet, see www.nararm.org.  NARAM 2014 is to be held July 26 through August 1 in Pueblo, Colorado.

 

The recipient must be a NAR member eligible to participate in B-division competition for the competition season of July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014 (i.e., age 14 to 18 as of July 1, 2013).  The NARAM meet is an extension of this competition season.  The recipient must not have attended NARAM previously.

 

The grant award will be in the form of a check provided to the winner upon their arrival at NARAM to use for his/her registration and expenses.  The awardee will not receive any of the award funds prior to arrival at NARAM.

 

The recipients will be chosen by the NAR Education committee.

 

To qualify, the applicant must:

 

1) Attend NARAM for at least three days during the NARAM week, Sunday, July 27 through Friday, August 1, 2014.

 

2) Compete in at least two events at NARAM.  To learn about scheduled NARAM 56 events, see www.naram.org under Contest Flying/Events. The web site contains links to the competition rules for each event.

 

3)  Give a talk or demonstration on his/her rocketry activities..  This can be done on the sport range Sunday or later, or at a pre-arranged time during the week, for example, on Wednesday or Thursday evenings before or after the Research and Development competition presentations.  Examples of presentations or demonstration materials could be a Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) entry, a rocket with special features or design, or a winning rocketry science fair project.  This project or demonstration must be on a separate topic from the NARAM R&D Competition if the B-divisioner chooses to enter the R&D competition.
